Watering Eye

1 year ago 517

Epiphora, commonly known as ‘Watering eye’, is a condition when there is overflow of tears onto your face. This may occur due to excess tear production or insufficient tear drainage. Excess production can be due to eye strain, allergies, foreign body in the eye, infection, eyelid abnormailities, thyroid eye disease etc.

Insufficient drainage is usually secondary to a block somewhere along the normal tear drainage pathway, which extends from the eyes to the nose. This requires appropriate assessment because management varies depending on site and type of block.

Visit your eye doctor today for a check-up if you often have watery eyes and need to wipe them frequently.
